Trash & Recycling

The City collects residential trash once a week and recycling every other week. Your pickup day depends on which quadrant of town you live in.

Wednesday is reserved for commercial routes and holiday catch-up. Subdivisions are collected with the quadrant where their entrance is located.

Cart rules

  • Carts must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your pickup day and off the curb by 7:00 a.m. the next day.
  • Place carts with the handle facing the house, four feet from mailboxes, vehicles and other carts.
  • Trash must be bagged. The lid must close. Items stacked on top of a closed lid are not in the cart.
  • Recycling goes in loose, not bagged: paper, cardboard (flattened), aluminum and steel cans, and plastic bottles and jugs marked 1 or 2.
  • No glass, plastic bags, foam, garden hoses or Christmas lights in recycling. These items wrap around equipment at the recycling facility and are, in the words of the facility, "a whole thing."

Bulk and brush

Bulk items are collected during the first full week of each month on your regular trash day. Limit: three items or four cubic yards. Brush must be cut to lengths under 6 feet and stacked parallel to the street. Bulk pickup does not accept tires, appliances containing refrigerant, construction debris, hazardous materials or dirt.

Holiday schedule

When a City holiday falls on your collection day, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday routes are collected on Wednesday of that week, and Friday routes are collected on Saturday.
