Household Hazardous Waste & Shred Day

Safely get rid of old paint, chemicals, batteries, tires and electronics, and have up to five boxes of documents shredded on site. Dongvile residents only.
Clear out the garage and the file cabinet at the same time. Public Works hosts a drive-through collection day for household hazardous waste, electronics and paper shredding. Stay in your vehicle, and crews will unload it for you.
Bring a current City of Dongvile utility bill to show you’re a resident. Collection ends at noon or when the trucks are full, whichever comes first.
Accepted
- Paint and stain, latex or oil-based, up to 10 gallons
- Used motor oil, oil filters and antifreeze
- Household and car batteries
- Pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers
- Pool and spa chemicals
- Fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent bulbs
- Camping-size propane cylinders
- Passenger car tires, up to four per household, off the rim
- TVs, computers, monitors and printers
Keep products in their original containers if you can. Unlabeled containers are accepted only if you can describe what is in them with confidence.
Shredding
Bring up to five file boxes of paper per household. Staples and paper clips can stay. Binders cannot. Documents are shredded on site, and you’re welcome to watch from the marked viewing area.
Not accepted
Ammunition, fireworks, explosives, medical waste, sharps, commercial or business waste, and anything from outside the city limits.
