For Pilots

Dongvile Municipal Airport has no control tower. Announce your position on CTAF 122.8 and check NOTAMs before you fly. Please avoid overflying residential areas below 1,000 feet.

The pilot lounge next to the self-serve pump is open 24 hours and has restrooms, a flight-planning computer, a courtesy phone and a list of local restaurants that will deliver to the field. The courtesy car is available to transient pilots for trips into town, up to two hours. Sign the log in the lounge and return the car with at least a quarter tank.

Airport Management

Airport Manager Ron Hooten has managed the field since 2009. He oversees fuel sales and the fuel system, hangar leases, runway lighting, mowing and daily inspections, and he answers questions from pilots and neighbors. If you need help and Ron is not in the office, check the mower.

Hangars and Tie-Downs

Space Monthly rate
T-hangar $185
Community hangar space $140
Tie-down $40

All 12 T-hangars are leased, and the Airport Manager keeps a waiting list in order of application. Leases are month to month and require proof of aircraft insurance.

Projects and the Advisory Board

The airport receives TxDOT Aviation grants for routine maintenance and capital projects, matched with City funds. Current work includes crack sealing and remarking Runway 17/35. Projects are listed on Bids & RFPs when they are advertised.

The five-member Airport Advisory Board is appointed by City Council and meets quarterly. The board reviews hangar leases, fuel pricing and capital requests and makes recommendations to council. Councilmember Hector Ybarra serves as council liaison.

Frequently asked questions

Is anyone at the airport?

The airport is an unattended field. Airport Manager Ron Hooten is on site most weekdays. After hours, fuel and the pilot lounge are available 24 hours, and after-hours procedures are posted in the lounge.

What fuel is available?

100LL only, self-serve, 24 hours a day. Jet fuel is not available.

How do I rent a hangar?

All T-hangars are currently leased. Submit a hangar lease application to be added to the waiting list. Tie-downs are usually available month to month.

Which windsock is primary?

The midfield windsock. The two windsocks occasionally disagree, so the primary windsock is designated each spring on the recommendation of the Airport Advisory Board. The 2026 designation remains in effect until spring 2027.

Can I watch airplanes at the airport?

Yes, from the public viewing area beside the terminal parking lot. Please do not enter the ramp, taxiway or runway.

Can I fly a drone near the airport?

Drone operators must follow FAA rules. Please contact the Airport Manager before flying anywhere near the field.
