Water System
Dongvile’s drinking water comes from three groundwater wells in the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer at the Dongvile Well Field on Well Field Rd. Water is treated at the well field and stored in a 750,000-gallon ground storage tank, then pumped to the Dongvile Water Tower at Chili Dog St and W 2nd St. The tower is a 500,000-gallon elevated tank that keeps pressure steady across town. The system is regulated by the TCEQ. Sweet Tea Lake is recreational only and is not a source of drinking water.
The tower still displays the score from the Fighting Armadillos’ 1994 regional runner-up finish. Repainting will be scheduled once City Council selects a color.
Drought Stage 1, Water Watch, is in effect. Conservation is voluntary. Please water lawns no more than twice a week, before 10:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m. See Drought Contingency.
Trash and Recycling
The City runs its own sanitation service. Carts must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. with the lid closed and the wheels toward the house.
| Quadrant | Trash | Recycling | Bulk |
|---|---|---|---|
| NW | Monday | Every other Monday | 1st full week of the month |
| NE | Tuesday | Every other Tuesday | 1st full week of the month |
| SW | Thursday | Every other Thursday | 1st full week of the month |

Wednesday is reserved for commercial routes and holiday catch-up. Bulk items are picked up on your regular trash day during the first full week of each month, up to 4 cubic yards per household. During Thanksgiving week, Thursday collection moves to Wednesday, November 25, and Friday collection moves to Saturday, November 28.
Household Hazardous Waste & Shred Day is Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Public Works Service Center. Bring paint, household chemicals, batteries and up to four tires. A new automated side-loader collection truck is scheduled for delivery in March 2027.
Streets
The City maintains 42 miles of streets. TxDOT maintains Main St (FM 1337), Hot Pocket Way (US 6969), Sweet Tea Lake Rd (FM 420) and I-69, and Brisket County Precinct 2 maintains the county roads at the edges of town. Potholes on City streets are usually repaired within five business days of a report.
The FY 2027 budget includes $612,000 for street maintenance, including seal coat on 3.4 miles of City streets. The 2026 Street Rehabilitation project (ITB-2026-07) will rebuild about 1.4 miles of W Okra St, E Tater St, Cornbread St and E Biscuit St. Bids are due October 15, and award is expected at the November 5 council meeting.
Wastewater
Wastewater is treated at the Queso Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant, a 1.2-million-gallon-per-day facility downstream of town near Cargo Shorts Pkwy. Please do not pour cooking grease down the drain; it is the leading cause of sewer backups in Dongvile. If sewage backs up into your home, call the after-hours line at (936) 555-0112 at any time.

Frequently asked questions
Who do I call about a water leak at night?
Call the after-hours line at (936) 555-0112. It is answered 24 hours a day, including holidays.
What day is my trash picked up?
It depends on your quadrant. NW is Monday, NE is Tuesday, SW is Thursday and SE is Friday. Main St divides east from west, and Hot Pocket Way divides north from south. A subdivision follows the quadrant of its entrance.
My trash was missed. What should I do?
If your cart was at the curb by 7:00 a.m., call Public Works by noon the next business day. Staff will give you a service request number and schedule a return trip.
What goes in the recycling cart?
Paper, flattened cardboard, plastic bottles and jugs marked 1 or 2, and aluminum and steel cans. No glass, plastic bags, foam or garden hoses.
Is my water safe to drink?
Yes. Dongvile's water meets all state and federal drinking water standards. The boil water notice for Crocs With Socks Commons, issued October 3, 2026, was rescinded October 5 after laboratory samples came back clean.
When will the water tower be repainted?
After City Council selects a color. The tower is structurally sound and was last inspected in March 2026.
