What the committee does

City Council created the Water Tower Paint Ad Hoc Committee in 2024 by Resolution No. R-2024-07. Under the resolution, the committee is to “meet until a decision is reached” and then report a recommended exterior color for the Dongvile Water Tower to City Council. The resolution has no sunset date.

The committee:

Receives and reviews color proposals from residents
Holds public comment at each meeting
Reviews the color test panels installed on the tower’s perimeter fence at Chili Dog St and W 2nd St
Reviews proposals received under RFP-2026-09, Water Tower Repainting, Phase 0: Color Consultation, and will recommend a consultant to City Council
Reports to City Council, where the water tower is a standing item on every regular agenda

The committee’s record includes proposals submitted on paint chips, on a napkin and on one Fighting Armadillos letterman jacket. All of them are on file with the City Secretary. Please do not touch the test panels.

Councilmember Peggy Sue Tatum chairs the committee. She has asked that her preferred color not be published until the committee reports.

Submitting a color

You may submit a color suggestion in writing to the City Secretary, City Hall, 150 E Brisket St, or by mail to P.O. Box 1887, Dongvile, TX 76969. Each suggestion is entered into the record. One color per submission, please.

How to apply

Membership is set until a decision is reached. If a resident seat opens, City Council fills it by appointment for the rest of the unexpired term, which also lasts until a decision is reached. Application forms are available from the City Secretary at City Hall or by calling (936) 555-0110. Council makes regular board appointments each September.
