Drop off your natural Christmas tree at Sweet Tea Lake Park. Trees become fish habitat in the lake or mulch for City parks.

Give your Christmas tree a second life. From Saturday, January 2, through Saturday, January 16, you can drop off natural trees at the marked area in the boat ramp parking lot at Sweet Tea Lake Park.

Where the trees go

About half of the trees will be weighted and sunk at marked locations in Sweet Tea Lake to create habitat for young fish. The rest will be chipped by Public Works into mulch for City parks and flower beds. Free mulch will be available to residents at the Public Works Service Center starting in February, while supplies last.

Before you drop off

Remove everything that isn’t tree:

  • Lights, ornaments, tinsel and hooks
  • Tree stands, nails and screws
  • Wire, bags and tree skirts

Flocked or painted trees cannot be accepted. Artificial trees are not accepted. They are not trees.

Place trees in the marked drop-off area only. The ramp lane is not part of the marked drop-off area.

Curbside option

Public Works will also collect trees at the curb on your regular trash day from Monday, January 4, through Friday, January 15. Cut trees to 4 feet or shorter and remove all decorations.
